Charles Johnson certificate of discharge, 1881 September 20.

Contains original of Private Charles Johnson's discharge certificate from the 7th Cavalry at Fort Abraham Lincoln, Dakota Territory, dated September 20, 1881. On the back of the certificate, it is noted that Johnson served in the expedition against hostile Nez Perce Indians in 1877, an expedition against hostile Cheyenne Indians in Nebraska in 1878, and an engagement with hostile Nez Perce Indians at Canyon Creek on September 13, 1877. Scanned versions of the certificate may also be found in the collection.
